Where do I even begin to describe how much I loved this wedding day? Although when I really think about it though, it has a lot more to do with the people I was photographing than the wedding itself (which was stunning enough to be featured this week on www.wedluxe.com). Amanda and Adam are the type of couple that make you wish there actually were repeat clients in wedding photography. They are warm, welcoming, and gracious and quite simply, the type of people that make you want to be around them. There were a few stressful moments on their wedding day – yet even in the midst of the stress they were ultra composed and more concerned about how others were doing, than about themselves.
I have been so excited to post their wedding. You may remember Amanda + Adam from their engagement shoot, where we froze our buns off braving the late fall wind and rain, in muddy cornfields and a pumpkin patch, and where they continued to smile through clenched and chattering teeth. I knew then that these two had substance – they weren’t just two pretty faces. They showed grit and determination in an effort to get through the photo shoot, and I am SO glad they did – the images are some of my favourites. Especially the one of them practically strangling their dog, Fritz, poor thing.
Fast forward to their wedding ceremony, the forecast called for rain again, and Amanda + Adam were being strongly encouraged to move their ceremony indoors. But, it was their wish to have an outdoor ceremony in the courtyard at Liberty Grand – it was the main reason they chose the location for their wedding. And so, after much angst about whether they should or shouldn’t move the ceremony inside, they finally made the bold call to have the wedding ceremony as planned, rain or no rain. I guess whoever was in charge of the weather that day thought that they paid in advance with the rain on their engagement shoot, because the skies stayed clear, and it was perfection.
The rest of the day followed suit – it was gorgeous celebration of two beautiful people and their families, and I am grateful to have been asked to document it. Oh – and did I mention that there was a late night buffet of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream? Uh huh. Perfection.
