Let me start this post by saying how excited I am to finally be able to post these images from Jacquie + Rob’s wedding. The wedding happened last May, but because it was chosen to be featured in WedLuxe Magazine, I had to wait until it was published to post my own photos. I am NOT a patient person, and so it wasn’t easy. Forgive me in advance for the long post – usually I say less is more, but in this case, I am bending the rules. Just this once, more is more.
When I first met Jacquie and Rob, I was very excited at the idea of photographing their wedding day. We hit it off immediately – Jacquie has an effervescent personality, and exudes warmth and loveliness. As I have gotten to know her, I realized that she also has a completely goofy side, which is totally endearing. Rob is more of the strong silent type (though somehow he found himself frolicking in a field and flying a kite for his engagement shoot – sorry about that, Rob). Rob may be more reserved, but he has a love of adventure and travel, with which I can identify, even though some of his adventures make mine sound like a walk to the local kiddie playground. As I sat with them in that initial meeting, I could see their connectedness, and I knew that they were going to be amazing to work with. They were (and are) my kind of couple – sweet, engaging, appreciative, and fun, and not at all afraid to follow along with my crazy ideas, and throw in a few of their own.
Their wedding day in Chatham, Ontario was spot on in every way. Every last detail was taken care of to perfection, and Jacquie + Rob beamed with the joy of being surrounded by the love of their family and friends. It was an amazing group of people, and I felt really fortunate that I was there and able to document this special day.
Jacquie + Rob, I miss you! We’ll have to get together again soon – perhaps for an anniversary shoot? No kites or frolicking this time, I promise:)
Whenever I travel to shoot a wedding (even within Ontario), I always make sure I have a day to scout, hopefully finding a location to shoot that is off the beaten path. This purple “field” wasn’t really a field at all – just a patch of weeds that I stumbled upon at the side of a railway track. Jacquie + Rob were champions – stomping their way through those weeds. My videographer friends, Norris Films, weren’t so sure they wanted to wander through them, but were good sports about it anyway.
In the early phases of their planning, Jacquie and I went back and forth a lot sharing ideas for her wedding design, until I found out her florals and decor were being done by Frank Rea of Forget Me Not Flowers. Frank is one of the most well-renowned designers in the industry, and anything I could suggest would have looked like a Kindergarden assignment compared to what he had in mind. Frank is also Rob’s uncle, and so though it was difficult, I stepped away gracefully:) And WOW – did Frank ever deliver on the decor! He transformed the Chatham Armoury into an enchanted garden of cherry blossoms and lush white florals. It was overwhelmingly beautiful.
As I mentioned above, Norris Films were the videographers along side us that day. You can view their same-day edit here:
