This post has been a long time coming. So long, in fact, that between Kerry + Garth’s wedding and today, they have welcomed a new baby boy into the family. Little Weston came into the world a little unexpectedly, 15 weeks early, weighing 1lb 11oz. More on that little muffin later.
For now, I want to gush about the amazing week we had in Mexico, celebrating Kerry and Garth. It was so nice to be able to spend the week relaxing and getting to know everyone. I don’t often get much down time on destination weddings, so this was a treat for me, though I was running around like a busy bee in the weeks before her wedding. Kerry put me in charge of decor (or did I take charge? I can’t remember;). In any case, Kerry loves pretty, and I wanted to create a look that would make her happy, that would tie in the natural colours of our environment. Because I had no idea what would be available once we got to Mexico, I ended up carting down a boat-load of decor items from Toronto. Kerry joked in her speech that I would be wearing the same dress the whole week because I didn’t have room for anything else in my suitcase. It was pretty much true. I love the way everything came together though – with help from Bridget + Michelle on some DIY details and my mom on napkin sewing duty, along with everyone else pitching in on the day for set up, it became the perfect setting for a beach celebration (and wearing the same dress all week was well worth it). They had their wedding on Monday, which gave everyone the rest of the week to catch up with family, and to chill – it was pure bliss.
I love my sister, and I love Garth too. It makes my heart happy to know that she is spending her life with someone so AWESOME. I can rest easy knowing that she is loved, that he is good and kind, and the best Dad to their little ones. He comes by his awesomeness honestly, his family is fantastic too, and their friends…well, let’s just say that I think the photos of them celebrating are among the best I have ever captured (or the worst – depending on who you are and how you behaved at the wedding – *ahem* Dave / Heidi / and pretty much everyone else;).
Kerry Joy, I am a blessed big sister. You are even more beautiful on the inside than you are on the outside. Your strength these last few weeks has amazed me. I am so proud of you for all the roles you play in your life, but as a sister, I couldn’t ask for more.
